No one can be everything to everyone.

The web is The Sprawl…proliferating, growing exponentially.  A new cool site pops up every day that I think I need to be a part of...a Sofia Coppola world saturated with Silverlake, deconstructed hair and a soft glow, whose inhabitants live by music and cocktails alone. Where is my invitation?

There’s so much to know, so much to conquer. How can I be in the know and on the cutting edge? Dip my toe into that new world for a moment and think they will or should acknowledge me?

I can’t, they shouldn’t. You can only extend so far. Just the knowledge that those other worlds exist, those ecosystems of people that have their own voice and pulse is enough. Acknowledge them, value them, learn from them, then let them live. Define what your own life looks like. And if you don’t like the picture be your own photoshop. You have the ability. You know what someone else’s board looks like. If you like theirs better, then repin it to yours. Or don’t. Maybe just re-edit. And cherish.  Be your own model for existence, for beauty and for the experience in life. Breathe, move, savor, take in, push away. Smile at the wind that is playing with your hair and making your eyes water.  It’s all around you. It’s around everyone.

On writing…

It’s all right,” said Wilcox, “I’ve finished it.” “What? Have you beenworking?“  “I always work at night.”  “What’ve you done? A treatment?”  “No, a shooting script.  At first I was held back by personal worries, but once I got started it was very simple. You just get behind the camera and dream.”

Rene Wilcox to Pat Hobby in ”The Pat Hobby Stories”
By F.Scott Fitzgerald

This is how I’ve always approached my writing. I love movies so much, I just get behind the camera in my mind and write.

Have a great weekend!

If you like writing badass female characters like I do, this is a must read. It explores the history and lore around the famous ‘warrior women’ of the past, and sheds light on the often lonely and misunderstood journey they were (and are) forced to embark to become leaders.
