Beautiful and fascinating second full day here in Langkawi, Malaysia. Resort is stunning, and as it is their off season, barely 20% full. (Wish I had a camera crew and some of my actor friends here - we could shoot something amazing). Everything here has been impeccable. The food- insane (I need to take a Vine of the breakfast buffet- makes Vegas look weak). The staff couldn’t be kinder or more professional, always knowing we are celebrating our anniversary (but not knowing how to address me as I kept my name ;))

Tonight we went off property The areas around the resort are a 180 - rural, ramshackled, basic - somewhat like in Mexico around the fancy Cabo resorts- but with a happiness that permeates. We had a wonderful dinner for the cost of 3 drinks at the resort. Then took a local cab back, passing (and almost hitting) a herd of cattle on the road, and then seeing two beautiful prayer sessions underway. We’ve never been exposed to the Muslim faith like this before.

Off to bed — exploring the jungles tomorrow. Hope your day treats you to new adventures as I gratefully recount mine. Xo

On a layover at Kuala Lumpur Intl. Airport on our way to Langkawi Malaysia. I think this is the first Muslim country I’ve ever been in. Airport is beautiful. (And have to mention how lovely and hospitable Shanghai/ Pudong airport was.) Can’t wait to explore the tropical island we’re headed for. And I have access to twitter again!

Final day in Shanghai: went from ancient Watertown 60 miles outside of city limits to dinner at a restaurant by Catalan chef in a city complex that was like San Fran Mission meets The Grove. Packed on a Monday night. Amazing day.
