Don’t be a princess…BE A PIRATE.

Don’t wait for your proverbial prince to rescue you from your tower. Don’t think that you are ‘due’ or ‘owed’ anything, just because your parents told you you were smart and pretty. Don’t think that someone is going to pick you from a crowd and make you famous. Don’t surround yourself with supplicants and ‘handmaids’ who only tell you what you want to hear. Don’t dream wistfully of a fairy tale life.  Because it doesn’t exist.  Don’t be a princess.

DO challenge the status quo. DO redefine the borders and rules that someone else once made up. DO build a metaphoric ship (your body of work, your ethics, your skill) that will allow you to ride the turbulent seas and pursue your ‘bounty’. DO be prepared to do some hard, manual labor. DO surround yourself with a loyal, talented crew that you respect as much as they do you. DO imagine that there is a world past what you can see with your naked eye.
