Don’t beat yourself up!
Don’t you love when the fog clears? The fog shrouding your brain that is. Isn’t it a relief when the sticky film that is life, preventing your brain from being at its best, just dissolves? Well mine did, this morning.
About a week after my Wonder Woman and Elfquest shoots I got sick. And I haven’t been 100% since. My workouts have been unmotivated, I’ve been craving (and indulging) in comfort foods, I haven’t really cared that auditions are slow and I’ve been online shopping. The latter is always an indicator for me. When buying things fills a void in me, I know that I’m in a funk. ‘Things’ are a poor replacement for ‘experiences’. But I couldn’t think my way out it. I just had to let it run it’s course.
And today it did. Two completely different emails in my inbox, for no special reason, brought back my focus to attack life and my career, which also means my body. So instead of the lame workout I was going to do at home this morning, I’m running to the gym. I’m suddenly excited about being a healthy badass machine again. It just happened. And I knew it would.
So if you’re feeling like you’re in a funk, like you’re just not the ‘2.0 version’ of yourself that usually kicks ass, it’s ok. We all push ourselves hard to achieve our lofty goals, but sometimes, you just have to remember that you are human, and flawed. Your body and mind just might need a break. So acknowledge the funk, let it run its course and most importantly, don’t beat yourself up about it! You’ll still get to where you are going, and you’ll have a new perspective on it.
Have an awesome day!
