OPERATION B.A.B.E.

Operation B(adass) A(lien-fighting) B(ody) E(ndeavor).

This blog was started to chronicle my attempts to get in badass shape, as if I were up for the role of Ripley in the upcoming Alien Prequel. This blog helped change my life.

So now I am dedicating Operation BABE to posts about kicking ass in every aspect of your life, whether of your career, your body or your mind (hopefully all three are connected). I find inspiration across the web so now this will be the home for those nuggets of awesome.

Pulling media for my new site and demo reel…came across this pic from the set of a pre-viz I shot up in Van with an amazing stunt team. Need to do something like this again soon!

A little hint at what my new site is going to look like!
It’s a slow go, especially finding the time to populate it with content and finalize the layout, but I’m really excited to launch very soon.  A huge thanks to the talented Adam Levermore for his amazing work.
In the mean time, you can find most of my acting/ producing/ writing credits, and a bunch of pictures, at IMDB. If you have a project opportunity please contact my manager ericATcrestviewentertainmentDOTcom or message me on twitter. Thanks!

As I stood washing dishes, thinking of all the things I needed to do, I wondered why they show our future tech as one big touchscreen. Our brains can multitask, our hands can’t.

Such a unique video and a moving reminder that LA can indeed be beautiful. Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday! (via @mydigitalvisual)

On writing…

It’s all right,” said Wilcox, “I’ve finished it.” “What? Have you beenworking?“  “I always work at night.”  “What’ve you done? A treatment?”  “No, a shooting script.  At first I was held back by personal worries, but once I got started it was very simple. You just get behind the camera and dream.”

Rene Wilcox to Pat Hobby in ”The Pat Hobby Stories”
By F.Scott Fitzgerald

This is how I’ve always approached my writing. I love movies so much, I just get behind the camera in my mind and write.

Have a great weekend!

The Hollywood Reporter’s (@THR) top 100 Women in Entertainment list came out today. At first glance I thought it was just all the female execs and agents in town (yawn) but in reading it further, there are some inspirational women highlighted. If you’re in this business, you need to know who these smart women are. But only #11, Lauren Zalaznick, seems to have any affiliation with the digital space. I hope this changes.

On a side note, I was supposed to interview for a job with Stacey Snider back in my William Morris days. I always wondered what it would have been like to work her, what I would have learned. But instead I left the business side and followed my passion. Now both sides have merged for me. I hope to meet the woman one day soon.

Go kick some ass today everyone!

Meet the woman who is running DARPA in this month’s @fastcompany: http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/160/regina-dugan-darpa I love finding articles about badass, brilliant women. For those of you who are science and technology buffs like me, it’s exciting to read about Regina Dugan, who’s looking to both speed up and open up innovation, and even turn to crowdsourcing.  And it sounds like she is a great leader, having met all 217 of her employees individually. A worthwhile read.

I’m always looking for articles like these so if you stumble across one, please send it my way!

Dear @IMDB rankings & @klout: You don’t define me. Sincerely, Taryn.

My daily musing.

The corporate ladder is gone. That linear, vertical path to success, where you’re rewarded one step at a time, assured growth and prosperity if you stay hard working and loyal? Dead. Extinct. Blown up. What exists now? The corporate jungle gym, the gauntlet, the TARDIS. One innovative decision could propel you into the stratosphere, and 20 years of service could get you a pink slip. Your career is a multi dimensional chess game now: see 4 moves ahead. See 4 years ahead. Take risks. There may be more competition but there is also more opportunity; the landscape of every industry is in the throws of change. Be innovators. The powers that be aren’t fortune tellers or wizards. They are scared and they won’t hesitate to sacrifice their minions to stay afloat. But that’s their first mistake. Today you need a spaceship, not a boat.

My musing of the day—
